Meet Victor

Picture
Victor's love for sports became a hobby that turned into a passion. A state champion as a player and a coach, he's experienced success and defeat both on and off the court. His lighthearted approach to almost everything makes him easy to approach and easier to follow. He's a leader in church, community, and in the schools he's served for more 15 years. Player turned P.E. teacher turned coach turned athletic administrator gives Victor a unique perspective in team building and problem solving. The solutions always include heavenly intercession as his friends know a prayer from Victor is just a phone call away.

Victor has a heart for kids and physical fitness which is fitting for the former ball boy for the Dallas Mavericks. He's living one of many dreams by teaching basketball skills each summer for the home team. He's featured in this article: https://www.mavs.com/mba-coach-bleeds-mavs-blue/

Meet Shay

Picture
Shay is a fourth generation, socially conscious, naturally curly haired, boot-wearing Texan. She's a quazi politico having worked nearly twenty years in politics and government. She works full-time outside the home yet figures out how to volunteer full-time at her sons' school and cook a few times a week. (Yep, she's that mom.) Her favorite things are french fries, the autumn breeze, and the laughter of her children.

She's a huge sports fan but loves college football the best, especially her Texas Longhorns. She's seen the 2006 Rose Bowl (Texas v. USC national championship game) at least 100 times and still gets nervous in the fourth quarter.

Shay is a Silver Star (25-year) member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and holds an Honorary Doctorate degree bestowed for service to one of her alma maters. She founded a monthly book club with some of her bridesmaids and closest friends fourteen years ago. She's been called "Madame President," "Chairwoman," and even "Dr, Cathey," but her favorite title is "Mommy."

She's a wannabe author and blogs occasionally at

Meet our Sons

Picture
Noah is a classic firstborn son. He's confident, skilled, and focused. His name means "comforting leader." A perennial honor roll student, Noah continues to excel in all his classes. Fully entrenched in the busyness and rigor of middle school, he managed to make it look easy. He was in the band, on the basketball team, student council and in the robotics club. Now, he’s headed to high school. He also serves as the volunteer chaplain for the local NAACP. He prays publicly and privately like the old soul he posesses. More than he loves spouting random trivia nuggets and creating science jokes, he loves all things sports (like his dad) He's pretty active on Twitter as @LittleSportsGuy.

We admire his confidence as he encourages us to remove our own doubt. He believes that he can and so do we.

Picture
Caleb is Baby A of our twin sons. He has the best laugh in the family and probably on the planet. He loves presidential history and will stop to read anything about Presidents Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, or Barack Obama - whom he met once with his brothers on the White House lawn at the 2014 Easter Egg Roll.
He's quite the artist and draw anything from historical monuments to basketball shoes. The latter fits his new joy - playing basketball. His new pastime doesn’t distract from his "A" Honor Roll status and piano classes. His name means "faithful land.” We hope he finds himself with other faithful followers as he begins middle school.

We admire Caleb's compassion for others. His sensitivity to others, especially those experiencing difficulty, inspires us to be better.

Picture
Luke is the younger of our twin sons - Baby B. His name means " bringer of light" and his light was made for the stage. He's a repeat Spelling Bee champ and has worked through speech therapy to win speech competitions. He sings in the school choir and at church. In fact, Luke sings anywhere he's asked and even places he's not. An excellent student, Luke loves riding his bicycle and climbing trees. Luke likes sports enough to watch it with his family but he'd rather be singing. Hopefully, middle school will give him a chance to continue to showcase his God-given talents.

We admire Luke's outlook on life. He greets everything with a smile - even the most serious of subjects. His ability to view the weightier matters of life through his own light brings sunshine on many cloudy days.
